"El Atleti" It's just an abbreviation, it's not exactly pronounce like Atletico...

... well, it's the same but without the -co.

It's how most people here refer to the team traditionally. Just like we usually say Barça more than Barcelona. Real madrid is usually called "El Madrid" and so on.
