It’s bad news for tenants

I wish the likes of Torsten Bell and Rachel Reeves could understand how free markets operate.
If you propose 1 year rent freezes landlords will rush to increase rents in anticipation.
You will also see more landlords selling up which will reduce rental stock and further hike rents.
It’s not healthy for landlords or tenants.
The daft thing is this proposal being leaked will probably see a lot of rents being increased even if it doesn’t happen.
Terrible decision making, and being directed by the threat of the Greens.
