at some point you have to either believe: either the U.S. intelligence and security agencies are astonishingly incompetent, or there’s a deeper explanation at play.

also, if he really had been shot through the (regenerating) lug and immediately made a defiant fist pump gesture toward the world's media, then he is exactly the sort of reserved, modest and calm type of inividual who would choose not to bang on about it every day, or even at all.
