But the Brighton story is also true. It’s no use sticking your head in the sand and pretending that things like this aren’t real. The fact that they are real is what caused the fear that this had happened AGAIN. It’s not irrational for people to have such fears

The police were in a hiding to nothing because it’s a huge thing to say that you don’t believe a woman who says she’s a victim of sexual assault. So they couldn’t say that. But equally they couldn’t glrejesse the details people wanted because they didn’t believe the victim. Result was information vacuum, filled by people’s fears. But the fears are not unfounded
