Is Baumann a winger? I thought he was more a defensive midfielder

You could be right if it was to send a message of course but could also be that he felt if we were in a comfortable position early enough it was the safest position to let a young lad get his first few minutes.

2-1 not the safest scoreline to allow for that unfortunately for him.
