liked to play a 4-2-3-1 with a tall, physical striker as a focal point, use the full backs for width with inverted wingers, move the ball quickly in build up play. He also liked, in many games, to have one full back bombing down the wing while the other would tuck in to add to midfield (which is really how Fisher got his long run of play). Clement uses all of that too.
Differences are that I think Thorup over-theorised it and made the system more important than the result which meant that we would fanny about with it at the back far too often. Clement translates it differently, and rather than just tell them they need to earn the right to play, forced them too and put them in situations to prove they could or couldn't (see Jurasek).
So, what will be interesting to see is what he does in season 2, which in his past jobs has been when the results aren't always so good. Is it that once he has his summer window and pre-season that he then focuses on his style of play rather than pragmatism? Or maybe he has done that but has learned his lesson.
He also seems to have done a great job in utilising siege mentality, but that only works for a relatively short period. At some point it will wear off. What you need to do then (in my opinion) is to have convinced enough of the senior squad that you're doing the right thing that once that effect weakens, the seniors will keep up the core message of it.
I think that's a big part why Kenny got a new contract.
