Captain doesn't have to be the best player. Should be a leader, and Terry does that

well for Chelsea.

For me, the captain should be a captain of his club - I never did understand the Beckham / Owen captaincy thing. They've never captained their club sides.

Therefore, Terry or Gerrard for me. Sol would have been the right man back when Becks got it the first time, but now he's had his day.
