now that's just misleading and a massive over simplification

if you are referring to the january 2026 EU–India Free Trade Agreement which is a broad economic deal, not an energy pact.

it mainly cuts tariffs on goods and services, opens markets, and boosts trade flows.

it covers sectors like machinery, cars, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, textiles, and services.

it’s been in negotiation for nearly 20 years, so not something "rushed" as implied.

structurally, it’s about trade liberalisation and economic cooperation, not oil.

there are some grey areas granted, india does indeed buy large volumes of russian oil and then refines it and sells it on in some instances indirectly to europe, sadly we don't live in an ideal world.
