To have been involved in the sport itself at any level, likewise, isn’t actually relevant either. I’d argue that a relevant qualification *could* be supporting the team and / or being local, however. Being or having been CEO of other companies certainly doesn’t guarantee success - ample evidence and many examples are testament to that. So I’m not sure that he was a worse person for the job than any other, solely based on his experience and qualifications. But that’s my opinion, and as we’re talking opinions…
