Absolutely this, it's deep rooted in the culture

Football fans are obsessed with refs, and it's because it's non stop from the pundits saying in disbelief "how has he got that wrong?" without ever discussing why it might be that they got stuff wrong.

It'd be so refreshing to have pundits looking at an incident and say "let's look at this in real time, from the refs perspective, he hasn't got the benefit of a slow motion replay here"

The amount of fans who genuinely think there is corruption against their club is scary.
