Just broke my no-watching-You-Tube rule.

The Portuguese defender had his feet wrapped around Rooney's boot - for Rooney to get free that was the only direction his leg could have gone. With no free kick being called Rooney had every right to keep tussling for the ball.

Actually reinforces my view that it wasn't deliberate.
