This is true, but of course

the entire goal of a Championship season is to be promoted, because we allow ourselves to be killed by the hope that maybe, just maybe, this time it will be different and we'd manage what Sunderland have this season, and maybe with new owners be able to establish ourselves as a Premier League side.

All complete fantasy of course, and even if we were to achieve what Palace, Bournemouth, Brighton or Sunderland (OK, that's only one season I know) have then we would then be in the never ending mid table mediocrity group which is also boring after a couple of seasons I would imagine.

But not striving for promotion is also accepting mid table mediocrity but in the Championship.
