got awarded £500 compo today from barclays, hurray.

not hurray.

they f**ked me about royally yesterday, 4 lengthy inept phone calls; two of them were disconnected by them after around 40 mins and one then told me that they couldn't help and my only option was to go into a branch where they gave me more duff info.

kept my powder dry and raised a formal complaint with the lady on the fifth call who resolved the original problem.

she asked me for the names of the customer services people. i said "you record every telephone call for training purposes you get the bereavement team to listen to them and it's easy to find out from branch who i spoke to. she said the complaint was logged and gave me a reference number and said they had ten working days in which to respond.

chap calls the very next day (today) and says he has listened to all the calls and discussed the issue with the manager of the norwich branch and advised all managers involved to address training issues. he then apologised unreservedly and offered £500 compo to be paid into my account by close of business today.

of course i could have blown them out and pushed it to the financial ombudsman, nobody caves in that easily when they are bang to rights.

but the sad truth is that i'm sick to death of arguing these last three years of dealing with the legacy both my parents in-law left me.

i've got tired of battling the financial ombudsman, the nhs (jesus christ what an litany of utter incompetence), the health ombudsman, aviva, the banks, inept solicitors giving bad advice, just appalling estate agents (why are they not licensed?), and greedy callous care home owners. tired of all this s**t, just give me the £500 and let me be.
