I enjoyed watching the last 10 minutes of the Liverpool game last night

I think what he means is, the premier league is too competitive now. Unlike before when teams at the top could easily roll over the teams at the bottom its a much closer game now due to better sports science and better tactical awareness etc. Also financially staying in the league is so important that lots of teams play in a more defensive style.

Hopefully the World Cup in the summer is a bit more attacking and a bit less defensive.
