Trouble is you end up with the larger party having to give effect to the fringe views of

their coalition partners

This is what happened to the SNP - they needed the handful of Green votes to keep themselves in power so ended up bowing down to anything they wanted, including extremist stuff like gender self-ID (which was what ultimately did for Sturgeon)

Imagine the Tories in a coalition with Reform. They’d have to let Nigel have his red lines. It’d be just the same.

Nutters in power are very dangerous, even as part of a coalition with more sensible people
