Not to mention the attacks on UAE where around 240k Brits live, and the threats and attacks on shipping through the straight of Hormuz.

So yes, the threat to British interests only became evident in Iran's response. Of course, it would always have been a likely risk and that would be why our forces were prepped and able to "U-turn" so quickly.

I really don't understand why so many people think an organisation who is willing to change their course of action based on dynamic parameters is a bad thing. Those are usually the most successful.
