The rational answer is clearly no.

However, a) we're being asked the question in the absence of an alternative and I fear a change to make things worse. (Isn't this why the Aussies aren'ta republic?)

b) however ridiculous the set up is, it is part of the make up of the state and I worry the change would be bad both short term and long.

Perhaps let's sort the Lords out first, then move on to this sweaty problem.
