Aberdeen and Dundee United were the better sides in the early mid 80s

and both were brilliant in Europe when the Old Firm weren't.

Hard to believe that Aberdeen beat Real Madrid to win the Cup Winners Cup and Dundee United beat Barcelona in the Nou Camp one season.

The latter only missed out on the European Cup final in 85 by the odd goal having won the first leg of their semi final against Roma 2-0.

Never to be repeated - even By Rangers or Celtic.
