And to think that the BBS regards him as one of their greatest assets (do you remember when he commentated on Redgrave's 8 billionth Olympic medal, and got some award for being so brilliant and fab and representing the true voice of the nation and tearful BBC execs going on about what a national treasure he was and how no-one else could have done it?)
