I don't believe there would be this much noise a week on from initial reports

If we hadn't been given some sort of indication of interest from the player's side.

If it was earlier in the month, maybe it would drag. But we're 4 days out from the window closing. If he isn't interested, we should be moving quickly onto other targets.
