I've always felt some of the flak handed to Knapper was a bit unfair but

1. I don't think JHT should have been sacked and appointing Manning is on him.

2. The winger situation was unacceptable and has really hurt us. Its not good enough that one injury to Diallo left us with no genuine wing options in the squad and that caused us problems. That is also on him.

3. There is no excuse at all for the sale of Nunez to Ipswich, especially as the owners have said it was not their call.

The recruitment generally was not as bad as was made out. The problem was Manning. Clement is offering some redemption for Knapper and right now looks a masterstroke. The signing of Ahmed at least suggests he is learning. But the above three points were errors in my view for which criticism is legitimate. I can perhaps excuse the Manning thing because on the face of it that was not a ridiculous appointment and I don't think any of us can quite believe just how bad he was.
