it will be too hard to get players in that are what we want in the long-term given our grim position in the league.

We need a short-term boost to keep us up this season, and then we can rebuild properly in the summer.

I presume the delay in getting players in is because it's proving hard to attract the calibre of players we want given our current predicament.
