There have been mistakes and some daft shots, but ultimatly

The drops cost us as much, if not more, than the batting.

The warm up was bizarre, and has to be seen as a mistake now, but warm up matches have been a growing issue for all sides on tours for a number of years now.
Home sides know that helping the away team have proper preparation is not in their best interest!

That's not to absolve the ECB, but we don't know what teams were put forward for warm up matches.

In 02/03 England played SEVEN tour matches, and still lost 4 - 1 with defeats by 384 runs, an innings & 51, an innings & 48, and 5 wickets, as well as an average 1st innings deficit of 186 runs.
