It doesn't help that...

in the old days of proper tours you'd get a load of warm up games against state sides etc. to acclimatise before the Tests (including the Test grounds, so before the Brisbane Test there would be a game against Queensland at the Gabba). Now, because only internationals make £££, they're just thrown straight into the Tests with no proper match prep.
