But I don't agree about the relevance of being more likely to die of an accident. As a society we all know and tolerate the risks of accidents. That's life.
But none of us tolerates or accepts the risk of being deliberately killed. That remains shocking and awful. When the motive is some pre-medieval religious feud which most of us don't even understand, let alone sympathise with, it's even worse.
