Press news in...

🗣️ Good afternoon. We expect Philippe Clement to just at Coolknee from 1:30pm.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Josh Sargent will not be available to play tomorrow. Concussion, Kenny McLean is also doubtful.

Good news on Mathias Kvistgaarden. He has trained and may be available tomorrow, according to Philippe Clement.

Both Jose Cordoba and Liam Gibbs are back for this weekend. Lucien Mahovo has trained for the first time today - won't be available tomorrow and still needs building up. Eliott Myles is also back in training.

Emmanuel Adegboyega is training but is facing a lot of competition. Clement making the case that there is a lot of competition - he is training also with the U21s because of the numbers of central defenders they have.

Jack Stacey is also getting closer - touch and go for tomorrow.

PC on Cordoba: 'He is someone with potential. Good on the ball and physical qualities. He needs to make steps in his positioning, which is very important in the future. I know him from Bulgaria.'

PC on defending: 'I want competition. You cannot do only one thing. If we focused only on defending, then we could not score the goals that we have. The two last away games, we have come alone in front of the goalkeeper - that is the best chance you have in football and we missed two times. It is the difference of four points. The team is growing on the ball, but the defensive side is important. You cannot focus on one thing, especially in our position.'

PC on players taking in information: 'Players want to die on the training pitch. Players want to die on the pitch (to win). It's not perfect but we are growing and it is getting better.'

PC on similar challenge to other clubs?: 'Yes, there are similarities with other clubs. It's not a new situation. I had it in several clubs in the past. We know how we want to work with everybody, that if they step into the story then we will get results. They have to step into the story and go with the story. It's raising bars will many people - not just players but staff. I have only felt people who want to step in.'

PC on Sotton: 'It's going to be a huge test. They are very strong transitionally and on the ball. Against Southampton, you cannot afford to many or any mistakes. It's going to be a great challenge but I'm really looking forward to it. I feel a good vibe with the team. I was really pleased at Sheffield with two things, how we played on the ball and the resilience and fighting spirit that is in the team now compared to a while ago. We lost the best striker in the league, our captain and there were a lot of young guys on the pitch. It was an easy moment for the team to live in the past, die and give up - especially when going 1-0 behind. But they fought. We need to continue this story. It's going to be necessary against Southampton. There will be difficult moments. I hope the fans do the same. We will need them'.

PC on the fans: 'The fans can seem this team is fighting. We will have rough moments against a really good team in Southampton.'
