There are positives of shooting early

As the keeper might not be expecting it. I would have preferred him to have got closer but who knows what's going through your mind in that situation.
He could have decided to do what Makama did at Watford where he positioned his body to put it past the keeper into the far corner but that doesn't work all the time either!
