We have plenty of scope to get better though

This squad could be pretty decent. When he had Diallo and a proper LB even Manning managed W3 D1 L3 (all comps). That would keep us up. And PC is a better manager than Manning (of course he still doesn't have Diallo and a proper LB and we don't know when he will).
We're currently just 4 points from safety with 84 points still to play for. Hardly catastrophic at this point.
