Help on this Bittorrent thing

Right. I've downloaded the client and now the only problem seems to be that ALL the download sites which seem reputable are already completely full and no new registrations are permitted, OR I get a crappy site where none of the downloads work!!

Anyone got any recommendations how I can actually use this thing ?!!!
