here you go...

1. Full Metal Jacket (FMJ)

Lead core completely covered by a hard metal jacket.

Designed for reliable feeding and penetration.

Common for training and target shooting.

2. Hollow Point (HP)

Tip has a hollow cavity.

Expands on impact to reduce over-penetration and increase stopping efficiency.

Common in defensive ammunition.

3. Soft Point (SP)

Exposed lead tip with a partial metal jacket.

Expands more gradually than hollow points.

Frequently used for hunting.

4. Polymer-Tipped (Ballistic Tip)

Plastic tip over a hollow-point or soft-point design.

Improves aerodynamics and promotes controlled expansion.

Used in hunting and precision shooting.

5. Boat-Tail (BT)

Tapered rear end (not the tip, but often paired with polymer or FMJ tips).

Improves long-range stability and accuracy.

6. Round Nose (RN)

Blunt, rounded tip.

Older design, often used in lever-action rifles or handgun ammunition.

7. Flat Point (FP) / Wadcutters

Flat tip.

Common in revolver cartridges and for paper-target cutting (wadcutters).

8. Armor-Piercing (AP)

Hardened core (e.g., steel, tungsten).

Designed to penetrate armor; regulated or restricted in many places.

9. Frangible

Made of compressed metal powder.

Designed to disintegrate on impact with hard surfaces to reduce ricochet.

10. Specialty / Less Common Types

Tracer: burns to show trajectory.

Incendiary: produces a flash/heat on impact.

Non-lethal rubber/plastic rounds: used for training or crowd control.
