Well that was quite a day

God knows what happens next.

This season is over, in regards of anything good happening (as we would have thought at the start of the season). Best result is we end up mid table somehow, having played some decent football and engaged our so far disaffected team into a kind of unity. Other than that it’s relegation by a narrow margin or with 6 games to go and complete disharmony on the pitch and off it.

The management have done the easiest and most obvious thing possible, which they could have done 6 (or more) weeks ago when it was first becoming obvious. Poor old Manning has been a poor fit from the start and I feel sorry for him but this had to happen.

Now the next steps are being decided by a team which has overseen some pretty sub-optimal transfer windows (even if they were seen as successful at the time), because of the departure of the previously successful recruitment staff, an ill-advised/poorly timed (to say the least) stadium development plan and an almost complete disruption of supporter engagement.

Manning had to go, no doubt. There may be a slight uptick in performance (unless there isn’t). But there needs to be more if we want to escape relegation and potential meltdown.
