🟡🟢 Liam is in the building. Here we go.
----------------------------------------------
LM on Schlupp: 'He is scanning today, but it doesn't look good ultimately. If you look at most hamstrings in the serious end - we are talking months. He has had an issue there previously and it's that side. We are crying out for leaders and personalities and he has done that in recent weeks. It is a blow to lose him.'
*Norwich's squad is unchanged otherwise.*
LM: (onOn Kvistgaarden): 'I thought he looked sharped the other night when he came on. We need people to step up and he can do that.'
LM: (On Wednesday): 'I wasn't happy at half time. We don't deal well with adversity. The lads can't wait for me to solve it. We had a big chance, then conceded, and then it became passive. To be fair to the lads, they had the opportunity to go one of two ways - either show fear and go within themselves or show fight and purpose. They did that. When we have that adversity, we go passive. I enjoyed the fact we went a bit longer. Those are the key messages, when you're up against it, don't be afraid to go longer and go and counterpress. There is no snobbery in doing that.'
Q: How do you build it?: 'Through experience. If you look across society, not many people have resilience now. When you have a tough moment, how do you come through it? You have to act on things. If you do video work and talk around it, the lads are able to act on it in games.'
LM: (on Duffy): 'It's the world we live in. People see things out of context and see what they want. It's a bit of passion. There is no issue. I've spoken to Shane and he's in contention for the weekend. I'd rather that emotion and passion, it's what I'm crying out for. It has to be done respectfully and that's what we spoke about. We're a young dressing room that doesn't have a lot of leaders or big personalities. I think he's done really well. He will do certain bits that I won't see in terms of helping people stay aligned. We're crying out for that in the group.'
*Manning asked again about Jacob Wright: 'It's just competition. He is starting to get some minutes at Swansea, but the last two games have been different. Knowing what it would look and feel like at Hillsborough, it's one of those. Jacob has to keep his head down. He is a player that we know that we will need this season.'*
LM: 'I'm fed up of repeating myself. At some point, I'm confident it will change. If you look at the performances, we have had intent but we haven't been ruthless. Mathias is an example of someone who is capable of taking those opportunities. We've been crying out for that.'
LM (on fans): 'If I put my fan head on, I get it the anger and frustration. What we need to do as a group of lads is when it doesn't go our way, we need to keep playing. Fans get it. They know you aren't going to be perfect every time. But if they can see you showing bravery and playing forwards, they will stick with you.'
LM (on the league): 'The margins in the league are smaller than last season. We've come away from games thinking we've shot ourselves in the foot rather than being outplayed. We have to change it and turn it.'
*Elliot Myles needs a few weeks of training before he can be integrated. He is between training with the team and doing extra work to build him up.*
*Neither Lucien Mahovo and Ben Chrisene are available. Liam Manning hopes they will return after the break but both aren't training. Jack Stacey still missing this weekend due to concussion protocol.*
*Gabe Forsyth is back on the grass working. Anis Ben Slimane is also out there - both at a really low level, but positive steps.*
LM (on injuries): 'There is a lot going on to look at what we're doing. There are so many factors that go into it. It's frustrating and makes it challenging because of what we have available to select. It ties your hands a little bit when it comes to making changes during matches.'
LM (on youngsters): Any youngsters impressing?: 'Errol Mundle-Smith has been training with us for a while. We liked the look of him in the Netherlands in pre-season. Theo (Adelusi) has been with us as well. Ultimately, we have to win first team games, but we have to look after young players to develop their careers. Having spent so many years in development, you can see lads get caught in between the first-team and development team. The staff here do a terrific job at getting those in the best place.'
LM (on McConville): 'He is a terrific character and wants to be a leader. When you look at the age of him, to push like he has, he's done really well. You come into an established Championship club and there aren't many centre backs who are playing at this level. We have the mindset that no one is going to open the door for you, you have to push it down. Ruiari has been brilliant. We've had a lot of chats. You only get in the team by performing.'
LM (on protests): 'If anything, players need to use it as fuel to perform to turn and change it. I said it the other day - protests are fine and everyone has a right to do that, but when it turns personal and families are being abused and threatened, that's not acceptable. I'd flip it, if the people protesting were seeing their families getting abuse, they wouldn't like it. It's up to change it by winning.'
LM (on his future): 'You're probably getting bored of my response. I haven't thought about it. I'm doing all I can to prepare the team for tomorrow to win the game.'

That brings the press conference to a close.
