and he's a successful businessman, he'll be acutely aware that there comes a point where it makes no sense to pour more money in and he'll just exit and chalk it all up to experience.

So whilst I'm sure he's aware of the $/c financial consequences (and what those are after tax planning), I would actually be surprised if he 'really' understands what fates have befallen a great many relegated clubs and their supporters.

The consequences to him and his investment / side project are not the same as the consequences to the wider stakeholders of a UK soccer franchise.
