He comes across as someone who'd be quite a good youth coach

Trying to get them to make their own decisions (and mistakes) to learn from. But after 4 or 5 performances he should have been able to tell that's not going to work with this group and they need explicit instruction. There are loads of problems with the squad balance, some down to recruitment and others down to injuries but a good manager ought to be able do better with what we still have.
