Were they worse players last season?

Which better players do we have this season (who are fit)? We don't have any wide players as good as Sainz (for all his flaws he could score a goal out of nothing, which we completely lack now) or any creative midfielder as good as Nunez again, for all his flaws). We haven't acquired anyone any better than Doyle, who we had last season.
Thorup went to total s**t when we had no LBs and that's happened again this season. Given Chrisene and Mahovo's injury problems last season it seems crazy to get someone with one foot in the knacker's yard as their backup.
