You’re blaming people using a freedom for the government removing it. That’s like blaming the fire brigade for the arsonist.
Protests don’t have to “work” in the neat little way you imagine. They exist to bear witness, to show that a conscience still flickers even when power ignores it. That’s the point. You sneer at that because it reminds you that comfort and cowardice often wear the same face.
And this is textbook far-right stuff “I believe in free speech… as long as it’s mine.” The moment someone exercises it in a way that challenges your worldview, you’re suddenly fine with the state shutting them down.
You talk about “our freedoms” while gloating in their removal. The irony could power a small town.
