but actually I don't think any of them are late-era Roeder-loan awful. They're either not quite championship ready, or they're ready but the style of play is just too ponderous to see how good they are, and we're not really making it easy to be in the new club.
And yes injuries, but also this adherence to a style - not switching things, seeing us pass back to our keeper after a corner, just being so slow on and off the ball. And without someone who is that maverick creative, or experienced enough to pick it up by the horns and go with it (I'm thinking Holty against Everton all those years ago), we're staying turgid.
So I don't know the answer - but I do worry when we're saying that someone like Jurasek is great after being on the pitch for five minutes and should be started, when we've zero evidence that is the case - although only one way to find out. But I always worry when we hit the point when we start exalting players who haven't really played at the expense of others. Crnac was all right last night, but I still don't know whether all right is as good as he'll get, or if there's more potential there. So again, he's not awful, but he's also not astonishing. And he's typical.
Right that was a ramble worthy of Leigh Leopards Chairman, but I'm putting off a work task I don't want to do.
