Unfair to say he's the problem. The problem is not having a playmaker alongside him

He has never been a deep lying playmaker, daft to try and shoehorn him into that role.

Wagner started it, and it's carried on from there. But it's never been his strength and we've always looked much better when we've had someone alongside him that is better at receiving the ball with their back to midfield and using it well.
