Have backed off considerably on the anti-socials for a while now

What happened to Twitter is what’s happening on all social media from what I can see, and I don’t really need a regular fix of disinformation, trolls, bots, ads and hatred. People seem very deeply unhappy these days.

Even the innocuous stuff is all negativity these days. Post something about David Beckham being good at free kicks and the entire comment section will be how overrated he was and what about this lad who played for argyle, and what about Pirlo. Not about how great he was at free kicks, and also how great Pirlo was.

And all the nationalistic stuff. I find it bizarre how the general theme seems to be “I’m proud of my country” but also “my country is s**t”. So what are you proud of? A fantasy of your country that never existed? Proud of what you think your country should be? That’s not pride.

I would say 80% of the news items and posts I see are people outraged at what others have got, or what others are achieving. It’s all bitter and twisted and if people really are focusing on the negatives about everything then I fear for the general mental health. That’s a lot of unnecessary stress.

The parallels between the downfall of Twitter and this site are quite evident.
