I don't see how that would change much at all.

You would still have the top 2 going up and then a playoff for the 3rd spot. The teams who finished 3rd and 4th would still win a majority of the playoffs.(But a lower % than with the current system)

What it does do is make less games at the end of the season meaningless.
I kind of like it.
