I doubt he hates us

he just doesn't care. Imagine if you signed for a second division club in Chile, that you'd probably never heard of previously, then later after a mediocre spell moved to their rivals for more money. Would you refuse when their marketing staff asked you to go on to the pitch and wave a scarf around?
