Can only have been a better financial deal

Its not exactly a step up.

A move to Spain you could understand 100% re the culture and language.
A move to a club that's had one awful year in the Prem in the last 20.
By any metric its not a dream destination.

But if they offer a better deal and you have no real ties to the club. Good luck to you
