Promotion is worth more. Not helping a rival could be worth more.

It’s not that much money in the grand scheme of things. We’ve wasted TVs same amount on some players in recent years.

Ultimately they could have sold him for a bit less to any number of clubs I’m sure. You just don’t sell to them. Indeed I can’t really recall us ever selling them a good player before? I know Marshall went there but that was on a free wasn’t it?
