This shouldn't be a "left vs right" debate and making it such just polarises opinions and

finding a feasible solution more difficult. Over the last ten years the NHS, universities, and agriculture have all lobbied for more migration to fill gaps. Special visa schemes for Ukraine and Hong Kong added hundreds of thousands in just a couple of years. But all some people want to focus on is the boat people and anti-muslim rhetoric. Unpalatable as it might be to some what is needed is a change to our immigration and dare I say it human rights rules and regulations. Not throwing them out but updating them to reflect the global environment we now inhabit.
