The homeless issue is very close to my heart as I work very closely with charities in my town.
Fully understand that the issues run much deeper.
We work with people to get a foot in the door or back on their feet.
(Drugs, Drinking, mental issues such as PTSD are often major factors)
We get them an actual physical mailing address as it's hard to get a job without an address (chicken and egg)
We supply donated cloths to go on interviews.

Like everything in life there are grey issues and nuances.
Most elections are not decided on this stuff. They are won on sound bites and simplified headlines.

Even the current government is panicking a bit because they realize how upset even their own voters are.

What hard working people see are them paying into a system and it being given away for free to people who have not.
It's a simple fairness issue which some in the left frame as racist to ignore the economic issues.
