True, however…

We all rightly complain that the financial gulf between the Premier League and the rest of the football league has removed any prospect of genuine competition; even the financial gulf between most clubs in the Championship and the clubs in Leagues One and Two. We know that teams like Wrexham can’t compete without significant money and yet we grumble when they get that money and start doing well.

I’m all for it. If 48 other Hollywood actors can decide to just pick a League One and League Two side at random and back them, the football league might get back to being on a level competitive field again.

Let the media treat these teams like a plucky novelty, I’m pleased for Wrexham fans who, for the time being at least, won’t have to see their team closed down like Morecambe.
