You seem very keen to defend a position you then go against!

The ECB said cricket was too complicated for children and women - clearly bollocks.
The ECB said that it would introduce new audiences to longer-form cricket - no evidence after four years.
The growth of the women's game is a happy byproduct of covid, while the cash windfall is a massive success that the ECB were very keen to talk down.
Even the cricket-on-free-to-air promise is being somewhat diluted, as the BBC is showing 20% fewer Men's games than two years ago.

It was really only ever a cashgrab - they could see that franchise cricket was gaining traction - but the ECB were too gutless to say so outright.
