Personally I didn't suffer to any great extent from the preparatory treatment but afterwar

do not use the hospital lifts under any circumstances and

be prepared to drive home with all car windows open even if it is the middle of January and snowing. If other drivers on the southern bypass give you strange looks just wave politely and smile.
