idle air india crash specualtion before i go down the pub

not pilot error methinks. The aircraft's electrical system appears to have misinterpreted its status, effectively "thinking" it was shut down at the gate.

This triggered the master switch, which in turn shut down the engines mid-flight.

several systems then behaved abnormally, including:

fuel cutoff

flaps/slats not being set to 15

deployment of the ram air turbine (RAT)

landing gear failing to retract

In one of the ground witness videos an engine is seen spooling back up, with a slight nose-up pitch in the aircraft.

if the incident had occurred at a higher altitude (1000–1300 ft): then the remaining engine might have been able to maintain a climb. who knows in the idle specualtion game though?

the aircraft could potentially have reached 5000 ft.

the crew may have had the opportunity to assess the situation and safely return to the airport.

full fuel load would likely have needed to be dumped over the bay.

a video from the previous flight showed:

malfunctioning in-flight entertainment (IFE)

intercom issues

erratic lighting

these signs suggest that electrical issues were already present before the incident.

Conclusion:

based on the evidence in my capacity of chief air accident investigator of the wroth, this appears to be a 100% electrical fault.

key questions:

1. is this due to a specific air india maintenance failure?

or,

2. is it indicative of a broader, fleet-wide problem?

f**ked if i'm getting on one though until the fat lady sings.
