Celtic and Lens bid 11m for him but Brøndby didn’t want to sell or wanted more at that point. The release clause didn’t kick in until this summer.

Lens and Celtic made bids, but perhaps they also knew about the clause and matches the 6.9m but lazy journalism meant it was reported as the same bids they made in the winter.

Not saying that’s fact but is a likely scenario.
